Not like your average booking hall of today, Tyseley Station, having local services through two sets of island platforms, made full use of the whole width of booking hall (ie unlike stations such as Acocks Green which on losing 2 tracks, sublet half the station to a business). Notice the many advertisements of the time promoting railway journeys. One even refers to Motorail - a curious (now) idea of taking your car on back of train when travelling long journeys. The double-doors to left of stairs housed the lift service to platform level.
