Merchant Ferries operated a Warrenpoint – Heysham freight-only ferry from 1986 until 1995 when the service transferred to Dublin. After a break, Seatruck (the present operator Image) re-opened the route in 1996 using the charted ferry “Bolero” - built in 1985. The ship has since been converted to a cable-maintenance vessel and re-named “Lodbrog”.
