A very fine example of the archetypal Yorkshire mill chimney with an octagonal barrel and an oversailing cap. There is appreciable batter and there are metal reinforcing rings. These buildings are now all part of the University. The mill to the left of the chimney is Firth Street Mills , originally for cotton spinning, and beyond the chimney is Larchfield Mills - woollen.
