The white building on the left is a new unit, completed in early 2010 on a site which was previously open as part of the paved area of the square beyond. Costa coffee shop opened in 2006 or 7 in a unit that was previously occupied by Stead and Simpson shoe retailers. I have heard that it quickly became the most profitable Costa outlet in the Midlands - whether this is true I'm not sure but it is certainly always busy.
