Ashley Dace has given an excellent description of this pump - Image This is an internal view showing the three throw crankshaft, connecting rods and the guide links. The pump rods are absent but would have descended from the junction of the connecting rods and guide links and into pumps set in the launder visible at the bottom and discharging through the wall of the mill. This is not a true parallel motion and the pump rods would have required some play in the plungers/pistons; although the longer the guide rods the less play is required.
