Nid oes sicrwydd gan archeolegwyr at ba ddiben y gwnaed y tyllau hyn. The prehistoric monument known as Maen Catwg (Catwg's Stone) is located in the middle of a field near Gelligaer. It has been suggested that the stone is a former capstone of a lost cromlech. What is striking are the 33-50 cup marks carved on its upper surface. Archaeologists are still mystified as to the meaning of these cup marks.
