In the grounds of Parkfield, which is behind the camera. The trees with the red-brown trunks are widely-spaced Wellingtonias (Sequoiadendron giganteum). The spaces are occupied with (most likely) Corsican pine (Pinus nigra nigra). The intention may have been to remove most of the pines later in order to let the crowns of the remaining trees fill out, but it hasn't happened. Thus all the trees have grown leggy and tall and it's too late to retrieve the intention. Managing an avenue takes guts and an eye firmly fixed on the future. However, it is still an impressive, lofty avenue that avoids being gloomy.
