This unusual structure didn't begin life as a folly in Sandford Park, its proper name is The Whish Sister's Fountain. It was commissioned as a gift to Cheltenham from Mary, Anne and Ellen Whish in 1891. The fountain was a gift from the sisters, to commemorate their 50th anniversary in the town. Its original location was on the Westal Green roundabout in the Lansdown area of Cheltenham. Source - Cheltonia
