A Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon (BRCW) class 104 diesel multiple unit pauses at the station, obscuring the view of the station buildings (visible in Image by Whatlep). Over the wall a part of Brown & Tawse Clayton Lane South pipe works is visible. The station has been rebuilt since this photo was taken with the station buildings replaced by bus shelter type structures and a new footbridge at the east end (access between platforms used to be via subway, also at the east end). The unusually large number of passengers standing on the eastbound platform is explained by a visiting railtour, the rear carriages of which can just be made out on the left.
