This footbridge connects Lombard Street, on the west side of the canal, with the Lidl supermarket car park and Vale Road on the east. Its unusual number, 5A, probably indicates that it was built some time after the canal was constructed. Its name is probably connected with the fact that Baldwins had a foundry nearby. Its site is now used by the County Council buildings facing Lombard Street, Foundry Street and Worcester Street. The access to the footbridge, on both sides, is by steep steps.
