View SE, towards Shepton Mallet, Templecombe and Bournemouth on the Somerset & Dorset Bath - Bournemouth line. This Summer Saturday train was the 11.12 Bournemouth West to Sheffield and had two LMS 4F 0-6-0s, Nos. 44424 and 44422 at its head. (See also Image]). No. 44422, withdrawn in 6/65 - a long-time 'pal' of mine - survived into preservation and is now on the Nene Valley Railway.
