View SE, towards Peterborough on the ex-Midland line from Peterborough (East and North) to Manton, Melton Mowbray, Leicester, Derby and Nottingham. The train is approaching Walton station, with the East Coast Main Line running parallel on the east side. This is the 10.37 Summer Saturday from Yarmouth (Vauxhall) to Leicester (London Road), which had until 1958 run on the more direct Midland & Great Northern route. The locomotive is LMS 4F 0-6-0 No. 44178. On the left is the large Brotherhood's factory.
