Whether rotated by vandals or the wind is unclear, but this public footpath sign was pointing almost at right angles to the run of the path, in a direction leading straight to the cliff edge of the quarry. The path runs off to the left of the photo, and to the right behind the photographer. It proved quite easy to turn the sign back to a rather more sensible direction which doesn't give one much confidence that it will stay put in the next gale... The patch of red on the snow just by the sign probably isn't blood from a walker crossing the barbed wire to follow the sign to their imminent demise - that's just the colour that rabbit wee goes on snow !
