I am not sure what the purpose of the building in the background is. It stands near the castle. Update: 25 July 2011 I have been informed by fellow Geograph member Keith Edkins that the building is the remains of Broughty Castle Barracks and is used by various organisations such as Civil Defence Scotland and Shanwell Wildlife Rescue Trust.
