Formerly the Congregational Church, it was built in 1905 to replace and enlarge the old Independent Chapel of 1819. The date plaque from the latter has been incorporated in the side of the building at the rear. It is a fine example of the use of decorative terracotta, and appears to retain its complete set of stained glass windows in the Art-Nouveau style.
