Heading west at the edge of the wood. Managed by the Royal Forestry Society ( http://www.rfs.org.uk/ ), Battram Wood is part of the National Forest and was created from arable farmland, starting in 1998. The forest is open to the public and is designed to be a centre for the understanding of viable woodland and biodiversity.
