Original Vale of Rheidol Railway Terminus, Aberystwyth

This car park is the site of the Aberystwyth VofR railway terminus station and yard when the line originally opened in 1902. In 1925, subsequent to the line being absorbed by the Great Western Railway, the original terminus was closed and a new one opened adjacent to the main line station, although the line still passed through here until re-routed in 1968. The Crosville (now Arriva) bus garage is on the right hand side of the picture. Its boundary fence still denotes the curve once followed by the railway.
