View northward on the ex-Midland (North Midland 'Old Road') Chesterfield - Rotherham section of the London St Pancras - Yorkshire trunk route, a section by-passing Sheffield and largely devoted to freight traffic. The locomotive is Stanier 8F 2-8-0 No. 48439 (built Swindon 1944, loaned to the GWR until 4/47, then to BR(LMR) and withdrawn 11/67).
