Hightown Cross on Alt Road 60m SE of Hightown Station is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. This wayside cross was there long before Hightown existed, one of a series of crosses surrounding the old parish church at Sefton on the various routes taken by funeral processions from local villages to the burial ground.
