The canal and the railway accompany each other for long sections hereabouts. The railway is the West Coast Main Line, with Virgin Pendolinos such as this one rushing past at 140 miles per hour. We are pottering along at less than 3 miles per hour. Harwich is an unusual location for a narrowboat home base. I wonder if Porta Coeli has ever been there?
