The churchyard contains some interesting old symbolic gravestones. The 18th century stone in the foreground to the right displays a winged soul, an emblem of immortality, with emblems of mortality below in the form of an hourglass, turf cutter and spade, and two skulls. The inscription on the reverse is:- HERE LYES JOHN TURNBULL SON TO JAMES TURNBULL TE NNANT IN LEMPIT LAW HE DIED JULLY 4 1732 HIS AGE 24 YEARS
