Known locally as 'The Highlight' because at on time there was also a 'Low Light which stood on the beach. This became redundant with improved navigation and the diminishing number of small craft fishing from the beach. The fishermen used to align the lights one over the other and headed straight for them, onto the beach where they unloaded their catch.
