Drybrough is one of the great names in the history of Edinburgh brewing. Williamson's Directory shows James Drybrough brewing in the North Back of the Canongate (Calton Road) in the 1790s. He died in 1794, but his enterprise continued to grow, relocating to Craigmillar in the early part of the 20th century where an entire new 'brewery suburb' grew up. The Drybrough Brewery is now defunct, its premises now used as a business park. Image
