The large and impressive Blue Gates Hotel dates from 1932, but is built on the site of earlier inns of the same name. It is on the corner of High Street and Stony Lane. Now a free house, it was at one time a Mitchell & Butlers house, and their name etc. is carved into a stone above the main door.
