When photographed in May 2010, the pub belonged to Enterprise Inns, and though open, the owners were seeking a new tenant. Subsequently they decided to sell it, and contracted a sale with Joules Brewery of Market Drayton, Shropshire. The sign had seen better days and has the name of Enterprise Inns on it, so probably has been or will be replaced. The name of the Rose & Crown is frequently found on pubs. It is thought it originates from the outcome of the War of the Roses, but there are other theories. Image
