Below the remains of an old weir Image, Old Mill Rapid descends as a series of ledge drops, of which the first is the biggest, and has the most difficult line in from above. In low water, as seen here (at a level of 0.47m on the Environment Agency gauge at Sedgwick Weir), the drop is at its biggest, but has a relatively benign landing. In higher water levels, a large stopper forms here, requiring both speed and technique to get through. The rapid continues with smaller drops and waves, several with play potential (such as Image).
