View SW, towards Templecombe and Bournemouth by the ex-Somerset & Dorset (S&D) line, also to Mangotsfield etc. by the ex-Midland line, the junction being ½-mile out. The train is a Summer Saturday portion of the 'Pines Express, 09.25 Bournemouth West to Manchester and Liverpool, which will reverse and be taken on at the other end to proceed north. The locomotive is BR Standard 9F 2-10-0 No. 92210 - a type recently introduced to the S&D to handle heavy trains over its steep inclines.
