This area was originally purchased by the local council in 1935 for allotments. There is still an area of allotments, but the rest, 25 acres, is an informal park. The allotment area itself has many vacant plots, which is surprising, as elsewhere plots are hard to come by. Perhaps they are restricted to village residents. Crockenhill is not a very big village. This park also has an air of little use, except by dog walkers.
