These modern houses, built in the Art Deco style in circa 2004, caused much controversy being in a conservation area and overlooking the Hamble river (immediately behind the photographer). Previously the site occupied the Eduardo Restaurant, built in the style of a Spanish Cortijo (farmhouse), so one could argue that was equally "out of place".
