The B3081 heads towards Shaftesbury via a descent of Zig-Zag Hill, set within a thickly wooded area which doesn't spread far beyond the roadside. The chevron here is particularly useful since the previous bend was a very sharp left-hander so one might reasonably anticipate that the next turn would be to the right. In fact, this turn is only slight, as can be seen by the sharp right in the background.
