Head south down West Street then east into Boyces Street. Formerly known as Boyces Lane the street was developed from the mid 17th century onwards. It contains the oldest school in Brighton opened in 1805 out of picture to the left, a couple of pubs and the site of the former Eye Hospital which operated from number 2 from 1832-46. The shop front below the water mineral factory sign is the former gated entrance to R Fry & Co a soft drinks manufacturer who operated from Middle Street between 1874 and 1930 supplying the hotels and pubs of Brighton.
