This photograph was taken from a point just north of Badyen Cottage (whose name is from nearby Badyen Farm, shown as "Badan" on a 1777 map by Charles Ross), where this long shaded part of the road begins. The course followed by the Geilston Burn does not wander far from this section of the road. See Image for further information about the road.
