"The Gherkin" and Lloyds Building

Image: © Robert Rimell Taken: 19 Sep 2004

This photo was taken during a visit to a new office block - during the Open House weekend of 2004 - at which roof access was permitted. This enabled this clear view of both "The Gherkin" at 30 St Mary Axe and the Lloyds Building at 1 Lime Street in the City of London. "The Gherkin" was designed by Fosters and completed in 2003 whilst Lloyds, designed by Richard Rogers, was completed nearly 20 years earlier in 1986. Both buildings created quite a stir in their day!
