Siddick Ponds (or Pond) is a Local Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest http://www.allerdale.gov.uk/downloads/page930/SiddickPonds.pdf . The reedbeds and open water are important habitats for birds - more than 155 species have been recorded http://www.sssi.naturalengland.org.uk/citation/citation_photo/1001137.pdf . The factory in the distance is Iggesund paperboard mill.
