Originally a dead end lane that left the A27 west of Arundel and headed south to the church, manor and farm. An exit onto Ford Road was constructed when the latter itself was built in 1846 to connect Arundel to Ford station. Looking up the lane from the junction with the footpath that follows the old route to Tortington Priory.
