Currently undergoing repairs. On the far side water is still flowing down the fish ladder, designed to allow salmon to migrate upstream to their spawning grounds in the higher reaches on the River Kent. It was constructed in 1985. Prior to that it was almost impossible for the fish to negotiate past the weir.
