The car park of this hotel and restaurant was beginning to fill up with customers for Sunday lunch. It is situated alongside the B4114, Fosse Way, which was formerly the A46 and still has the feel of a trunk road. The 1940s map shows a mill here, on the River Soar which flows north through Leicester and is a tributary of the Trent.
