The Raid Stane at Netherdale

The Raid Stane is the site of a skirmish in 1337 when a band of English soldiers were routed by men from Galashiels. The English were eating sour plums and this is commemorated each year as a part of the Braw Lad's Gathering when the Braw Lass presents the Braw Lad with a sprig of sour plum from trees in this location.
