Looking towards Wednesbury. The Midland Metro opened on 30th May 1999.It is 12½ mile tram-line between Wolverhampton and Birmingham with a short on-street section in Wolverhampton, the rest following the former Great Western Railway trackbed (closed in 1972). The trams are powered by 750 volt DC electric current supplied though overhead power cables.
