The ashlar tower of the church of St Mary the Virgin dates from Tudor times and is three storeys high with battlements. A church has stood on this site since Norman times, although much of the church building is the result of nineteenth century restoration. The white house next to it has a view out across the tidal estuary, although the view is probably not as picturesque now as it was when the house was built.
