This is on the west side of the square, the same side as the China Inland Mission. Buses operate on all four sides of the square, which is thus an important public transport hub; in former years, there were tram lines on the eastern an northern sides of the square only, while later, trolleybus wires went all the way round, as Newington Green was the terminus of Route 641.
