The pub's sign is mounted on top of a post, in the beer garden, adjacent to Sydenham Road. The sign depicts King Charles II, who hid in an oak tree when hiding from Oliver Cromwell's army. There are many pubs with this name, and indeed in the Guildford area there is another at Oak Hill, Wood Street Village. For more photos, please see Image
