The ex-steam (coal-fired) power station now runs on gas but only as a quick-start backup to the London Underground. The jetty in front was for loading coal in and ash out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenwich_Power_Station The hired party boat MV Golden Jubilee is also part of the picture.
