The ex-steam (coal-fired) power station now runs on gas but only as a quick-start backup to the London Underground. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenwich_Power_Station A green laser beam is to the right of the chimneys (it is faint), this is marking the point of the Greenwich Observatory. Seen from the PS Waverley.
