This church is mainly 15th century, but there is evidence that it is built on the site of a much earlier one. Possibly the chapel belonging to the nearby 6th century monastery. The parish of St. Kew takes its name from Cywa, who was the sister of the Welsh saint Docco or Docuin. He was the founder of the monastery.
