This grand church started life in the 13th c. but what you see today is almost all of the 15th. The porch has some fine flint panelling and flushwork. Around the south aisle and porch is a parapet of early 16th c. date. George Cavendish is buried here. He was Cardinal Wolsey’s servant and he retired here after Wolsey’s death. For some reason the pews and benches have been ripped out and horrible wooden chairs installed in their place creating the impression of a village hall rather than a church.
