Part of this parish lies in the Loes and part in the Wilford Hundred. On entering the churchyard through the lychgate something looks wrong until you realise the tower of this church is at the east instead of the west and serves as a chancel. This was once a much larger church with a central tower but the chancel collapsed. Instead of rebuilding, the eastern tower arch was blocked with a modern window and the tower modified into a chancel. The church is Grade II listed. Dallinghoo is the birth place of Francis Light and was baptised in the church on 15 December 1740. He went on to establish the British colony of Penang in Malaysia.
