These earthworks are about 100 metres North West of the moat at Berkhamsted Castle,in a playing field on the other side of Brownlow Road. They may be “Siegeworks”: that is a mound built by forces attacking the castle on which to mount siege-engines; or possibly part of the defences of the castle itself.
