A twelve coach train climbs out of Ashford on route to Dover Western Docks, paralleling Crowbridge Road. On the left, buildings on the South Willesborough estate are under construction. The bridge on the left carries Crowbridge Road over a stream which eventually flows into the East Stour (to the east of the railway it appears to be known as Old Mill Stream). The buildings in the centre of the photo belong to Ashford Railway Works. The level crossing connecting Willesborough with South Willesborough is just visible behind the signal in the centre of the photo. Much of what can be seen to the left of the train has been replaced by the Channel Tunnel high speed rail link.
