Northfleet Cement Works was originally opened in 1970 but ceased operations in 2008. The whole site has been cleared including the two distinctive chimneys next to the Thames which could be seen from many miles away. Needless to say the whole operation of the cement workings followed by the demolition has left a layer of dust over the whole area. The blocks of flats in the distance are in Northfleet.
